The Local Region

Here are just some of the things to do and see...

On the island, country roads loop around North Bruny, then cross the narrow Neck to South Bruny and the seaside hamlets of Adventure Bay, Alonnah and Lunawanna. Bruny is an island of beaches and forests, wildlife and heritage. |
Tahune AirWalk

|
The Tahune AirWalk is a bit over an hours drive from Orchard Lea - through the beautiful Huon Valley.
Here you can experience walking among the treetops past rare species, some found only in Tasmania, such as King Billy and Celery Top pine, myrtle, beech, blackwood and sassafras.
The Visitor's Centre has excellent interpretation on the forest and how it is worked; the adjoining restaurant features tasty lunches using Tasmanian local produce. |
Hastings Caves

|
The Hastings Caves are located in Tasmania's far south - approximately an hour and quarter drive from Orchard Lea. The caves contain magnificent examples of richly decorated underground dolomite formations, growing for over 10 million years. Today, they feature spectacular stalactites, stalagmites, shawls, straws and flowstone, with dramatic cave lighting to enhance the experience. |
